Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service successfully contained a fire that engulfed wooden and metal containers at Darkuman Cable and Wireless, close to the Waterworks area, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The Service received an emergency call at 5:19 pm and deployed personnel from the Industrial Area Fire Station, who reached the location at 5:21 pm. Upon arrival, they encountered a raging blaze that had consumed containers used for domestic and commercial activities.
Additional crews from Dansoman, Anyaa, and Abelemkpe Fire Stations were dispatched to support the operation. Firefighters brought the flames under control at 7:20 pm and completely extinguished the fire by 9:04 pm.
The intervention prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby structures, which were protected from damage. While multiple wooden and metal containers were destroyed, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what sparked the fire.
