The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old social media content creator, Isaac Boafo, popularly known as “Duabo King,” for allegedly spreading false claims about police officers in Kumasi.
Boafo was apprehended by officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region after posting a viral TikTok video accusing four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo.
In a press release dated March 1, 2026, the Police said Boafo admitted during interrogation that he fabricated the allegations to generate views and boost online engagement. He reportedly conceded that he could not provide any evidence to support the claims made against the officers.

Authorities further disclosed that Boafo also acknowledged making unverified comments about the President of the Republic for content creation purposes, again without any substantiation.
He has since been formally charged and remains in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The incident highlights growing concerns over misinformation on social media platforms in Ghana. While platforms such as TikTok have amplified public expression, law enforcement authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking action against individuals who use digital platforms to spread false information or damage reputations.
In its statement, signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the Police warned that individuals found engaging in similar conduct would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
