GoldBod Jewellery Limited has clarified that it did not financially sponsor the 2026 Women of Valour event held in the United Kingdom after facing criticism on social media.
The company issued the clarification after a photograph circulated online showing it listed among partners of the event, which took place on March 7 at the London Hilton on Park Lane. The event, founded by Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah, brought together women from various professional fields for networking and discussions ahead of International Women’s Day.
In a statement shared on X, GoldBod Jewellery said its involvement was limited to offering promotional discounts on jewellery purchases to participants as part of its Ghana Heritage Month promotions, and that it did not provide direct financial sponsorship for the programme.
The clarification follows criticism from some social media users who questioned why a state-linked institution appeared to be sponsoring a privately organised event abroad. The incident has sparked wider debate online about the role of public institutions in supporting external programmes and the need for clearer guidelines on such partnerships.
