John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will officially roll out its Free Primary Health Care Programme on April 15, 2026, as part of efforts to improve access to essential medical services nationwide.

Speaking at Jubilee House during a meeting with civil society organisations, the President said the initiative is designed to eliminate financial barriers to basic healthcare, expand community-level access, and strengthen preventive services.

Mahama highlighted the importance of civil society organisations in ensuring the programme’s success, calling on them to support public education, monitor implementation, and provide feedback.

The government expects the initiative to significantly enhance healthcare access, particularly for vulnerable groups, while improving overall health outcomes across the country.
