The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has directed all public sector workers to verify and update their Ghana Card details on the government payroll system by March 15, 2026, warning that salaries will be suspended for staff whose records remain unverified after the deadline.

In a letter dated February 11, 2026, the CAGD explained that the rollout of a new e-Payslip platform uncovered widespread data inconsistencies, particularly mismatches between employees’ identification numbers on the payroll and official records held by the National Identification Authority (NIA).

To resolve the problem, the CAGD has instructed the Human Resource units of all affected covered entities to urgently reconcile their payroll records and ensure that every employee is properly linked to a verified biometric identity.

Institutions affected include the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Health Service, the Judicial Service of Ghana, the Ghana Prisons Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the Ghana Audit Service.
