Ghana international Ernest Nuamah expressed his gratitude to Olympique Lyonnais supporters on Sunday after returning to competitive play following a year-long injury layoff.

The 22-year-old winger made his comeback as a second-half substitute during Lyon’s 4-2 victory over Stade Rennais FC. Nuamah was greeted with a standing ovation from the home crowd, marking his first appearance in nearly 12 months. After the match, the forward personally acknowledged the club’s “ultras” to thank them for their support during his rehabilitation.
Nuamah later shared his appreciation on social media, writing: “No face, no case. Supporters, supporters….Thank you for the warm welcome. Miss me? Well, I’m back!!!”
The Right to Dream Academy graduate’s return comes as a boost for manager Paulo Fonseca, who is expected to gradually increase the winger’s playing time as Lyon finishes the season.
His recovery is also a significant development for the Ghana national team. Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz, currently monitoring the fitness of key players like Mohammed Kudus, will look toward Nuamah as a vital attacking option ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
