The Government of Ghana will officially question officials of the Israeli Embassy in Accra on Wednesday, December 10, following what it calls the unjust and unacceptable treatment of Ghanaian travellers — including four members of a parliamentary delegation — at Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport.
In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said seven Ghanaian nationals were detained upon arrival in Tel Aviv on Sunday, December 7, without any clear justification from Israeli authorities.
The parliamentary delegation was in Israel to attend the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference. The ministry said they were held for over five hours and released only after “intense diplomatic intervention.”
The other three travellers were refused entry and deported on the next available flight, returning to Ghana shortly after.

The ministry stressed that Ghana’s diplomatic mission has complied fully with international norms and rejected Israel’s explanations as “unconvincing and unacceptable.”
Government officials added that Ghana is considering possible reciprocal measures if Israel does not adequately address the matter and prevent similar incidents in the future.
