President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned Ghana’s newly appointed Ambassadors-designate to Japan and Ethiopia, charging them to pursue results-oriented diplomacy that yields tangible economic benefits for Ghanaians.

During a ceremony held on May 13, 2026, the President administered the Oaths of Allegiance, Office, and Secrecy to Mr. Humphery Chatio Ajongba, Ambassador-designate to the State of Japan, and H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong, Ambassador-designate to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

President Mahama urged the two career diplomats to leverage their extensive experience to deepen Ghana’s long-standing bilateral relations with their host nations. While acknowledging the magnitude of the tasks ahead, he expressed strong confidence in their capacity to execute their duties effectively.

Responding on behalf of both envoys, H.E. Mr. McArios Akanbeanab Akanbong expressed gratitude to the President for the nominations and the trust reposed in them. He commended the administration for Ghana’s recorded economic growth across all sectors and pledged their commitment to effectively serving the nation’s interests.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Honourable Julius Debrah; Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Mr. Stanislav Xoese Dogbe; Presidential Adviser and Special Aide, Mrs. Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; and the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu.
