Ghana’s Parliament has congratulated Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings following her election as 2nd Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament.
Dr. Rawlings secured a decisive victory with 131 votes against 51 during a session of the continental body, reflecting strong backing from representatives of the African Union’s 55 member states.
Her election to the bureau’s third-highest office is seen as a significant boost for Ghana’s presence on the continental stage, as well as a step forward for youth and female leadership in African governance.
Dr. Rawlings is known for her focus on health equity, youth empowerment, and strengthening democratic institutions. Her win also signals renewed momentum for the Parliament’s work in promoting human rights, harmonising laws, and advancing initiatives such as the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The Pan-African Parliament serves as the legislative arm of the African Union, working to deepen integration and represent the interests of African citizens.
