The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has called for sustained and predictable investment in child protection systems, stressing that tackling child labour exploitation requires more than legislation.
Speaking at the National Justice Conference organised by International Justice Mission (IJM) Ghana, Dr. Lartey said protecting children from exploitation demands long-term financing, effective partnerships and a coordinated national commitment involving government, the judiciary, civil society, development partners, the private sector, communities and families.
She emphasised that sustainable child protection depends on reliable funding and efficient resource allocation, describing investment in child welfare as both a social responsibility and a strategic investment in Ghana’s human capital and future development.
The conference brought together key stakeholders to discuss a sustainable financing roadmap aimed at strengthening child protection systems and combating child labour exploitation through improved funding mechanisms and collaboration.
