Ghana and Burkina Faso have signed a Defence Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening security along vital cross-border trade corridors between the two countries.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced the signing of the agreement in a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Dr. Ato Forson stated that he signed the pact alongside Burkina Faso’s Defence Minister, Major General Célestin Simporé.
According to the Minister, the bilateral agreement is intended to safeguard economic activity, secure critical trade routes, and deepen defence cooperation and cross-border movement between the neighbouring nations.
