The Ghana Armed Forces has dismissed as false a circulating report suggesting that about 60% of candidates in its current recruitment drive have tested positive for HIV.
A statement released by the GAF Department of Public Relations on Sunday, January 25, 2026, described the report as fabricated and called on the public to disregard it entirely.
Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations, who signed the statement, explained that medical examinations for the 2025/2026 recruitment are still underway.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is FAKE NEWS and should be ignored by all. The medical process is ongoing and no results have been released or declared as at now,” the release stated.
The military leadership expressed worry about the malicious intent behind the publication and said it is working to identify those behind the false information.
The statement further cautioned journalists, content producers, and social media personalities to exercise due diligence and confirm information with authorized sources before publication.
