A violent armed robbery targeting a mobile money vendor on Sunday night has left two people dead and three others fighting for their lives.
The attack occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on March 8, 2026, at Fufulso Junction. According to reports, armed assailants opened fire while the vendor was in the middle of a transaction with a customer. Both the vendor and the customer sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.
Three additional bystanders were caught in the gunfire and are currently in critical condition at the Buipe District Hospital.
The double homicide sparked immediate outrage within the community. In the hours following the attack, groups of local youth reportedly retaliated by setting fire to several homes in the Fufulso area.
Security forces have been deployed to the scene to quell the unrest. Authorities confirmed that officers are maintaining a heavy presence at Fufulso Junction to protect residents and prevent a further escalation of violence.
While the investigation into the identities of the robbers and the subsequent arson continues, officials have urged the public to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
