The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has pledged swift action to address water and sanitation challenges at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, following concerns raised by students and parents.

He described the situation as concerning but “largely exaggerated,” noting that steps have already been taken to fix faulty facilities, with repairs expected to be completed by the end of the week. He added that the Ghana Education Service will mobilize resources to support the school and ensure the issue is resolved promptly.

While assuring immediate intervention, Iddrisu acknowledged that the situation could impact academic work if not addressed quickly. He also highlighted broader infrastructure challenges across the country, describing the state of school facilities as poor and in urgent need of attention.

As part of long-term measures, the Minister revealed plans to allocate a portion of the GETFund to handle emergencies in schools and noted ongoing efforts to secure funding, including support from the World Bank, to improve education infrastructure
