Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence that the Ghana national football team can mount a strong challenge at the FIFA World Cup 2026, despite current setbacks.
Speaking in an interview, Adams acknowledged that the team is not fully prepared, noting the absence of a head coach, but said he expects the squad to be ready ahead of their opening match against Panama.
Drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, Ghana will enter the tournament as the lowest-ranked team among the 48 participants. However, Adams remains optimistic, stating that while the team may lack the depth of past squads, it still has the potential to progress far in the competition and possibly win the tournament.
The Black Stars will be making their fifth World Cup appearance, having previously featured in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022 editions.
