The Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region has disposed of a substantial amount of confiscated narcotic substances in its ongoing campaign against illegal drug activity in the country.
Under tight security measures, the operation saw the elimination of batches of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other prohibited drugs that had been confiscated during multiple anti-drug operations conducted throughout the region.
Police authorities indicated that the disposal was executed following established legal and environmental safety protocols, after the substances had been presented as evidence in court and judicial approval for their destruction was obtained.
According to officials, the action seeks to ensure the drugs do not re-enter the market while demonstrating a firm stance against those engaged in drug trafficking and consumption.

The Police emphasized that the Narcotics Division will maintain intelligence-driven operations to apprehend suspects, confiscate illicit substances, and prosecute offenders under the law.
“Those involved in drug dealing must stop. We will pursue and arrest them wherever they operate, and they will be made to face the law,” the regional drug law enforcement unit commander, Frazer Nutakor cautioned.
The Ghana Police Service has restated its dedication to protecting public health and safety, particularly among young people, through continuous enforcement and public awareness initiatives.
“We believe that it is drug use that is leading these youth into criminal activities. So we are committed to deal with it,” Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto emphasized.
The police force is urging citizens to join the battle against drug abuse by sharing prompt intelligence on suspected drug-related operations in their neighborhoods.
