The Ghana Police Service has paid tribute to 20 officers who died in the line of duty in 2025 during a solemn Police Memorial Ceremony held on Wednesday, December 10, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.

During the event, a roll call of the fallen officers echoed through the grounds as six of them were formally added to the Police Wall of Honour, reserved for personnel killed in active service. The remaining fourteen were entered into the Memorial Book of Honour, which recognises officers who die while performing official duties.

Observed annually, Police Memorial Day honours officers who make the ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation. The commemoration, first held in 2014, acknowledges losses both within Ghana and during peacekeeping or international assignments.

This year’s ceremony featured a flag-raising and wreath-laying service attended by President John Mahama, Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and families of the deceased officers.
