The Ghana Scholarships Authority has announced the release of first-quarter funds to address outstanding scholarship arrears owed to Ghanaian students studying overseas.

In a statement dated April 16 and signed by its Director-General, Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, the Authority said the funds will be used to clear delayed stipends and unpaid tuition fees, particularly for beneficiaries in the United Kingdom and other countries.

The move forms part of broader government efforts to gradually eliminate a backlog of unpaid obligations and stabilise the scholarship scheme. The Authority acknowledged the financial and academic challenges faced by affected students and apologised for the delays.

It noted that the funds will go through the required administrative and financial processes before disbursement, assuring beneficiaries that steps are being taken to ensure timely payments and prevent future delays. Students have been urged to remain calm while the payments are processed, as the government reaffirms its commitment to their welfare.
