The Government of Ghana has confirmed that all three Ghanaians injured in the United Arab Emirates during the recent Middle East conflict are recovering well.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the government appreciates the support provided by UAE authorities to the affected Ghanaian nationals.
During his working visit to the UAE, Mr Ablakwa said he personally checked on the welfare of the victims, including Philip Degbevi, who reportedly made a full recovery after sustaining injuries in a missile attack at Dubai Airport.
The minister noted that the Government of Ghana remains committed to ensuring that all victims receive adequate compensation and consular support during the ongoing regional tensions.
He added that the Mahama administration is focused on extending assistance and empathy to Ghanaians living across Gulf countries amid heightened hostilities in the Middle East.
Mr Ablakwa also met with leaders of the Ghanaian community in the UAE and assured them of the government’s solidarity and continued support. According to him, about 60,000 Ghanaians currently live in the UAE, working in sectors including aviation, engineering, education, hospitality, domestic services, and business.
He further commended Ghana’s Ambassador and Consul General in the UAE for their efforts in supporting the Ghanaian community during the crisis.
