The government has announced a relief and reintegration package for Ghanaians being evacuated from South Africa following renewed xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, government assured affected citizens of its commitment to ensuring their safe return and smooth reintegration into society.

According to the Ministry, returnees will receive a “Welcome Home Financial Package” to provide immediate support upon arrival in Ghana.
Authorities also indicated that transportation assistance would be provided to help evacuees travel to their respective destinations across the country.
As part of efforts to help them restart their lives, the government said affected persons would also benefit from a reintegration allowance.
The Ministry further announced that free psychosocial support services would be made available to assist returnees dealing with emotional and psychological trauma resulting from the attacks.
In addition, evacuees will be enrolled into a special database intended to connect them with employment opportunities and startup support initiatives.
Government described the intervention as part of broader efforts to protect the welfare of Ghanaians living abroad and provide assistance during emergencies.
“We value and cherish all our citizens,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the first group of 300 Ghanaians in South Africa is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday, May 21, aboard a special chartered flight.
