The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued an apology over comments suggesting that postings to northern Ghana could be perceived as punitive.
In a statement, she described the remark captured in a widely circulated video posted on as a slip of the tongue that did not reflect her actual views or official public service policy. She explained that her comments were made in response to concerns about technocrats allegedly bypassing due process in issuing development permits, and how some are reassigned to different districts.
According to her, she intended to reference postings to areas far from officers’ usual places of residence, but acknowledged that her wording created the impression that assignments to the northern regions were a form of punishment.
She offered an unreserved apology to Ghanaians, particularly residents of the northern regions, for any offence caused, and reaffirmed her commitment to fairness, professionalism, and adherence to established procedures in administrative decisions.
