Asante Kotoko interim coach Yaw Prince Owusu has refused to commit to a long-term future at the club despite steering the side to a 2-0 away victory against Young Apostles FC in Wenchi on Matchday 23 of the Ghana Premier League.
The win, which Owusu described as a significant morale boost, keeps Kotoko in the hunt as they look to close the gap on the teams above them in the standings.
“Yeah, we’re trying to close the gap, little by little, game after game. But this was the first one where we said, no, we don’t have to lose this game. We have to win, and then get prepared for the next game as well. If we get that one, it means we are getting closer to it,” he said after the match.
Asked whether he sees himself continuing beyond his interim role, the coach was guarded, offering no guarantees about his future with the Porcupine Warriors.
“No, that’s up to when the time comes. I cannot decide right now,” he said.
The result marks an encouraging start for Owusu in the caretaker role, with the victory appearing to lift belief within the squad and among supporters. Kotoko now shift their attention to their next league fixture as they bid to sustain their momentum and remain in contention for a top-table finish.
