President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, paid a visit to two survivors of a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The two were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling in a truck that was ambushed by armed assailants, who separated the male passengers, killed them, and set the vehicle on fire.

The President, accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, expressed condolences to the survivors and gave them assurances that the government would foot their medical bills.

Mahama, who had been in Takoradi on official business earlier that morning, proceeded to the hospital immediately after his flight landed to hear directly from the survivors about the attack.

Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the incident have since been buried, while survivors were transported back home by the Ghana Armed Forces.

All survivors are currently receiving counselling and other necessary support, with the injured undergoing medical treatment.
