The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to march to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) today, July 13, 2026, to demand an explanation for the arrest of its member, Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
The party says Aboagye was arrested by EOCO officials at the Accra International Airport with support from the Ghana Immigration Service, despite not having received any prior invitation or notification of an investigation.
NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye stated that Aboagye had not been informed of any alleged offence or wrongdoing before his arrest. He described the action as an attempt to intimidate members of the opposition and questioned whether due process had been followed.
While reaffirming the NPP’s support for lawful investigations and accountability, the party stressed that state institutions must adhere to established legal procedures and ensure fair treatment for all individuals, regardless of their political affiliation. It also reiterated its willingness to cooperate with any legitimate investigation involving its members but insisted that law enforcement agencies should not be used to harass political opponents.
