Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has officially appointed Xorse Godzi as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, with his appointment set to take effect on June 11, 2026.
Mr. Godzi succeeds Mansa Nettey, who is retiring after making history as the first female CEO of the bank in Ghana.
The appointment comes at a significant moment for the bank as it marks 130 years of operations in the country. According to the bank, Mr. Godzi brings extensive international banking experience spanning more than 20 years across Africa and Europe.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Executive Director and Head of Ghana Corporates at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana. Over the years, he has also held key positions within the Standard Chartered Group, including Director of Global Corporates in London and Head of Commodity Traders and Agribusiness for Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Board Chairman Ebenezer Twum Asante commended Mansa Nettey for her leadership and contribution to the growth of the bank, while expressing optimism about Mr. Godzi’s appointment.
He noted that the incoming CEO possesses strong leadership qualities, deep industry knowledge and a forward-looking vision that aligns with the bank’s future goals.
Speaking on his new role, Mr. Godzi described the appointment as a privilege and said he looks forward to building on the bank’s legacy while driving innovation, growth and customer value.
Mr. Godzi joined Standard Chartered Bank Ghana in 2002 and has since risen through the ranks in several strategic leadership positions. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana and is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Industry observers believe the leadership transition reflects continuity and confidence in the bank’s long-term vision as Ghana’s banking sector continues to evolve through digital innovation and increased competition.
