Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is expected to present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament today, outlining the government’s fiscal performance during the first half of the year and its economic policy direction for the remainder of 2026.
The review will assess the economy’s performance against the targets set in the 2026 Budget, with updates expected on revenue mobilisation, public expenditure, debt management and financing plans. It comes amid improved economic indicators, including a decline in inflation to 5.3 percent, alongside gains in fiscal consolidation, the external sector and debt sustainability.
Ahead of the presentation, Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu and Finance Committee member Atta Issah expressed confidence that the review would not introduce new taxes. Instead, he said the government is expected to prioritise development initiatives such as flood mitigation, infrastructure, rural electrification and the operationalisation of the Women’s Development Bank while maintaining its commitment to easing the financial burden on Ghanaians.
