Anthony Joshua has spoken about the deadly car crash in Nigeria for the first time, revealing the emotional toll of the incident that claimed the lives of two of his closest friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

In a short video posted on his social media pages and YouTube channel, titled My Brother’s Keeper for Life, the 36-year-old boxer thanked supporters, first responders and medical staff for their help.

Joshua was travelling in the back of an SUV when it crashed into a stationary truck near Lagos on December 29. He suffered minor injuries and later returned to the United Kingdom to continue his recovery.

Ayodele and Ghami died at the scene, and local authorities have since charged the driver with dangerous and reckless driving.

Fighting back tears, Joshua described the two men as “my left and my right” and said his focus is on supporting their families and doing right by them.
