Ghanaian winger Emmanuel Addai has expressed his desire to represent the Black Stars, saying he remains hopeful of earning a national team call-up despite not yet making contact with the setup.

“No, I haven’t had any contact yet [with the Black Stars],” Addai told 3Sports. “But I believe they’ve seen my performances. Everything happens in God’s time. I’m not in a hurry.”

The 22-year-old, who plays for Azerbaijani club Qarabağ FK, has been one of the side’s standout performers this season, netting three league goals to rank among the club’s top scorers domestically. His attacking contributions — built on pace, direct running, and clinical finishing — have made him a consistent threat against opposing defenses.

Addai said his motivation to play for Ghana runs deeper than ambition. “I really want to represent Ghana because I love my country. I grew up watching Ghana lose finals, and I want to help bring joy to my people,” he said, adding that he hopes to leave a meaningful mark on the national team. “I want to be remembered not just for playing abroad but for doing something meaningful for Ghana because I really love Ghana.”

His season has not been without setbacks. Qarabağ were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after a heavy 9–3 aggregate defeat to Newcastle United, but Addai has continued to impress in domestic competition.

With the club now turning its full attention to league matters, Addai is expected to play a central role in their push for domestic success — and his performances could put him firmly on the radar of Black Stars selectors.
