Asante Kotoko has issued a formal apology to its fanbase following a string of “disappointing performances” in the Ghana Premier League that has seen the club slip down the league standings.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled significantly in recent weeks, securing only two victories in their last eight outings. This slump was highlighted by a heavy 4-0 loss to league leaders Medeama SC, a result that left Kotoko in sixth place and 10 points adrift of the top spot. Interim manager Prince Owusu, who assumed control after the resignation of Karim Zito, has characterized the club’s chances of overtaking the Tarkwa-based leaders as “impossible.”

In a statement released via social media, the club acknowledged the frustration of its supporters and outlined steps toward a turnaround. “We fully understand the expectations that come with representing this great club,” the statement read. “The Board is actively working to appoint a competent substantive head coach whose philosophy aligns with the long-term ambitions of the club.”

The leadership further emphasized their regret over the team’s current trajectory, stating, “We continue to sincerely apologise for the disappointing performances in recent matches.”

Due to the withdrawal of Hohoe United from this week’s schedule, the Kumasi-based side will be out of action until the first week of May, when they are slated to face Dreams FC.
