The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has offered his support and condolences to the family of Berekum Chelsea’s Dominic Frimpong, who died following an armed robbery on Sunday.

In a formal letter to Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, Dr. Motsepe expressed his heartbreak over the incident, which occurred as the team returned from a Ghana Premier League match.

“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the armed robbery attack on the bus of Berekum Chelsea, returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture, which claimed the life of a 20-year-old winger Dominic Frimpong,” the CAF President stated.

Dr. Motsepe requested that his sympathies be shared with the club and the wider national football body, noting, “Please pass my personal and CAF’s deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Dominic Frimpong and to the Ghana Football Association.”

Pledging the continent’s governing body’s solidarity with the bereaved, he added, “May God comfort and console his loved ones and the entire Ghanaian football community. CAF is with you during this sad and painful period.”

The message follows a similar tribute from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who also extended his sympathies to the family and the GFA.
