The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the long-delayed Eastern Corridor Road will be fully completed by December 2027 as government moves to finish outstanding sections of the major national road network.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Agbodza said the Eastern Corridor, one of the longest continuous road networks in Ghana has suffered years of fragmentation due to funding and contractual challenges under successive administrations. He noted that while the corridor traditionally begins from Tema, current efforts are focused on completing critical sections from Esikuma Junction through Peki, Have, Golokwati, Hohoe, Jasikan, Dodi Pepeso, Kpassa and Oti-Domanko.

The Minister identified key problematic stretches, particularly between Have, Hohoe and Jasikan, as well as the Passa to Oti-Domanko section, describing them as some of the worst along the route. He confirmed that all outstanding sections are now under contract, with new works extending beyond Oti-Domanko towards Nkwanta North and the Burkina Faso border.

Mr. Agbodza said completing the Eastern Corridor Road will significantly improve food transportation, reduce post-harvest losses and help lower food prices nationwide. The road links major farming communities in the Oti, Volta and northern belts to key markets in southern Ghana and is considered a critical national asset.
