Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has alleged that more than 16 members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been arrested by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over social media commentary.
According to the former Information Minister, the individuals were allegedly detained for making online comments and posts the government considered unfavourable.
Oppong Nkrumah made the claims while commenting on the detention of Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, who he said has remained in custody since his rearrest last Wednesday.
He further alleged that family members, political associates, and lawyers representing Abronye DC have been denied access to him since his detention.
The MP accused the government of using arrests, detention, and remand as tools to silence dissenting voices and intimidate critics.
Oppong Nkrumah added that the NPP intends to challenge the situation through public advocacy and legal processes.
