The campaign team for Bernard Antwi-Boasiako maintains that his ongoing imprisonment will not stop his pursuit of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national leadership, noting that supporters plan to obtain nomination forms on his behalf and deliver them directly to him in prison for completion. The campaign argues that his current status does not legally disqualify him from competing in upcoming internal party elections or fulfilling his duties with support from other national executives.
Campaign representatives emphasize that the team will personally take the nomination forms to the prison facility so he can formally sign and submit them. Furthermore, the campaign maintains that imprisonment does not legally bar a member from contesting internal party positions or executing executive duties with the backing of vice-chairmen and other leaders, pointing out that routine consultations remain entirely feasible. Other prominent contenders in the national chairmanship race include former General Secretary John Boadu, former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko.
