England midfielder Declan Rice has commended Ghana’s defensive resilience following a 0-0 draw between the two nations in their second Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Three Lions controlled the majority of possession but were unable to penetrate a disciplined Black Stars defense. The result marks Ghana’s second consecutive shutout of the tournament, following their clean sheet against Panama in the opening round.

“It’s always difficult when you play against eleven behind the ball,” Rice told the BBC. “Give credit to Ghana, they were very compact. It was tough. They are good players. We keep going, we still have a great chance of finishing top of the group. There’s no need to be negative, we need to stay positive.”

The stalemate leaves both England and Ghana tied at the top of Group L with four points each, with England holding the top spot. Both teams remain in strong positions to advance to the Round of 32. Ghana will conclude their group stage campaign against Croatia on June 27.
