Ghana’s High Performance coach, John Paintsil, says the national team has the experience and quality to progress to the semi-finals or even the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to 3Sports, the former Ghana international expressed strong belief in the chances of the Ghana national football team, stating, “We have enough experience to be in the semi-finals or final of the 2026 World Cup.”
Paintsil said his confidence is based on Ghana’s previous performances at the tournament, including a Round of 16 finish at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the country’s historic quarter-final appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, those campaigns demonstrate that Ghana has built a strong record at the global level. “When it comes to the World Cup, Ghana is now experienced,” he said, noting that the lessons from past tournaments should help the next generation of players.
However, Paintsil stressed that proper preparation will be crucial ahead of the competition. He pointed to player fitness and readiness as key priorities, adding, “I want all our players to be fit, so they’ll be ready for the call-up.”
He maintained that if the team prepares well and remains consistent, Ghana can once again compete strongly on the world stage.
