Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza has directed Maripoma Enterprise Limited, the contractor working on the 19.5-kilometre Tema Roundabout–Tetteh Quarshie Interchange project, to intensify construction by operating day and night to ensure timely completion.
Speaking during a tour of road projects in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday, August 19, Mr Agbodza urged the contractor to take advantage of the government’s 24-hour economy policy by scheduling disruptive construction activities at night.
He also called for dedicated lanes to be provided for motorists during the day to minimise disruptions to traffic.
The minister commended the contractor for progress made since his previous visit, including the completion of the main bridge without any incident involving the public. However, he stressed the need for faster work as the project is currently slightly behind schedule.
Mr Agbodza said about 50 per cent of the project had been completed and expressed confidence that the remaining pavement works could be accelerated now that the more difficult foundation works had been undertaken.
Project Engineer Ing. Kwabena Bempong confirmed that the project was approximately 50 per cent complete and expressed confidence that the remaining works would be delivered within the agreed timeline.
