The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Dominic Frimpong, a winger for Berekum Chelsea, who reportedly died after an armed robbery attack on the team’s bus.

The incident occurred on the Bibiani–Goaso road as the team returned from a Ghana Premier League fixture, plunging the football community into mourning. The GFA described the news as one of “profound shock and deep sorrow,” noting that Frimpong was a promising young talent who embodied the spirit of the domestic league.

In a statement, the Association extended condolences to the player’s family, teammates, technical staff, and club management, emphasizing that his death is a major loss to Ghana football.

The GFA also confirmed it is in constant communication with the club and the Ghana Police Service as investigations continue. It has called for swift justice and urged authorities to bring the perpetrators to book.

Additionally, the Association announced plans to engage stakeholders to review and strengthen security arrangements for clubs traveling for domestic competitions to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
