Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has refuted claims that the newly appointed head coach of the Black Stars, Carlos Queiroz, will receive a monthly salary of $100,000.

Following speculation that the Ghana Football Association had settled on the six-figure sum for the Portuguese manager, Adams clarified that the actual figure is lower. He stated that the official salary will be disclosed once all contractual formalities are finalized.

Speaking to Asempa FM, the Minister emphasized that the immediate demands of the upcoming FIFA World Cup necessitated a swift appointment.
“We needed a coach who is ready to take the team because we know the World Cup is just around the corner. Whether local or foreign, the coach must be ready,” Adams said.

The Minister further explained that the current arrangement is a short-term agreement specifically structured around the tournament cycle.
“The condition we agreed was that we were going for a short-term contract, maximum four months, for the period of the World Cup, but performance will determine any further agreement,” he added.
Adams remained firm in his dismissal of the rumored pay scale, noting that final terms have yet to be signed.

“We are not paying him $100,000. We are not paying him up to that amount at all,” he stressed.
Queiroz, who was unveiled last week following his arrival in Ghana on April 22, has already begun his tenure by monitoring the Black Galaxies camp. He aims to integrate local talent into the squad for upcoming international friendlies against Mexico and Wales. The head coach is currently on a tour of Europe to meet with Ghanaian players based abroad.
