A violent confrontation between the youth of Asisiriwa and Brodekwano in the Bosomtwe District has resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

According to a statement from the police, the unrest began on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m. Authorities responded to distress calls reporting that youth from Brodekwano had allegedly invaded Asisiriwa, sparking violent clashes between the two neighboring communities.

Personnel from the Kuntanase District Police Command, supported by reinforcements from the Asokwa Divisional Command and the Regional Operations Unit, intervened to restore order. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has since brought the situation under control.

Upon reaching Asisiriwa, officers found sections of the road obstructed by lorry tires and discovered two abandoned, burnt motorcycles. On the outskirts of the town, the bodies of two men, identified as 23-year-old Peterson Bonsu, alias “Low Key,” and 25-year-old Kwaku Opoku, were found with multiple cutlass wounds. The remains have been moved to the Jachie-Pramso Government Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Additionally, police reported that a Sprinter bus was completely incinerated at Brodekwano. Preliminary investigations suggest the violence was triggered by a dispute over a young man from Asisiriwa allegedly cohabiting with a young woman from Brodekwano without parental approval.

This disagreement led to retaliatory strikes. During the chaos, Charles Owusu, the father of the young man and owner of the destroyed bus, was attacked by an angry mob in Brodekwano. He was eventually rescued by police after taking cover at the palace.

The Ashanti Regional Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei-Akoto, alongside his deputy and other senior officials, visited both communities to engage with chiefs, elders, and youth leaders. These discussions were instrumental in de-escalating the tension.

While police presence remains heightened in both areas, investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and assist with the ongoing inquiry to ensure continued peace and security.
